Adding a node to an existing windows NLB Dynamics CRM cluster RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are building our production Dynamics CRM 4.0 environment and ideally like to start with a single front end, but build in scalability to add additional front end servers as load demands.

Our plan was to build a single-node windows NLB cluster, which would then allow for this possibility to add a 2nd node at a later date.

I'd like to be sure though that this is going to work and what steps we'd follow to add a 2nd node.

i.e. Are there any consequences I need to be aware of when adding a 2nd node to an existing cluster? What are the full set of steps required to add additional nodes?

I can only find this (https://rc.crm.dynamics.com/rc/regcont/en_us/op/articles/crm_server_nlb.aspx) which details how to build a 2-node NLB cluster from scratch.

Our CRM environment uses kerberos and is configured in IFD mode.

Any tips or some experience to share would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Adrian.

  • Well the steps to take are:

    • Install the new server
    • Install CRM on exisitng deployment with the same service account that the first CRM server
    • Configure IFD for that server
    • Connect to the existing NLB on the second server and add it to that NLB

That should be enough as all CRM configuration is stored in the config DB
