  • Question

  • Is WHS multi core aware.  In other words will a slower multi core processor be better than a fast single core?

  • Since it is based on Win2003, WHS will recognize and use at least two cores (probably more) in a single slot.

As to which would be better, it probably depends on what else you add to it. Plain out of the box WHS is unlikely to be taxed with any modern processor, be it single or multi-core.

If you start adding more add-ins, web sites, SharePoint, etc., I would go with the multi-core.

  • The reason that I ask is that I will also be running some home websites, home automation software, bittorent, webguide and a webserver to control sonos. I am definatly going to be stocking up on RAM but multiple cores cant hurt.
