    I run the standard report "Portfolio value by Investment Type" when required. Is there any way to obtain results for every week value without having to manually enter each date? My requirement is to plt the investment total value by week to see the movements.

    I don't know of a method to improve on what you are doing. If you wanted to work with monthly numbers instead, customizing the net worth over time report could  be useful to you.
