OCS R2 Standard to Enterprise Upgrade Question

Question
-
We're looking to make our OCS R2 infrastructure redundant and highly available. Currently, it consists of the following:
- 1 Edge Server R2
- 1 Front-End Standard Server R2
- 1 CWA R2
- 1 Chat Server R2
My goal is to deploy 2 load-balanced Enterprise Servers.
Questions: 1) Can I upgrade my existing Front-End Standard Server to Enterprise? 2) What role does the director play? Is it required for this solution?

You actually have to setup the new servers then migrate the users to the new pool, As far as the director it is not required but it will help for security purposes for connections from the outside. and it will also make it easier to determine which server you point your SRV records to, but it is not required.
There are other reasons to use a director. but I don't have the doc in front of me.
