China Spam RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I monitor and publish many sites that are related to a specific industrial product line, which unfortunately has been manufactured in China from time to time. If one searches for specific part name (ie BVL-99-thingambob) you are inundated with pages and pages of spam sites from China.

Aside from the frurstration factor for the webmaster, these results are basically worthless to anyone searching for the actual part. The chinese sites offer "knock off" product which is not approved for use as the other parts are.

This has been ongoing since October 1 and I have alerted MSN to this at least twice.

In addition we have seperate sites for seperate product lines because it makes sense. We dropped out the index for many of our sites.

What is MSN planning on doing about this and/or when?

  • Thanks for the headsup.   We are constantly working on how we deal with Spam.  As long as there are search engines there will be people who try to spam them or manipulate the results.  We cannot comment specifically on what we are doing to correct particular issues with spam, however, I can tell you we take it very seriously.  I have passed your comments along to the relevence team.
