No Client-Restore for DELL XPS Desktop 435MT with SCALEO Windows Home Server :-( RRS feed

  • Who knows, how to restore a DELL XPS Desktop 435MT (Vista 64) with the Restore CD of WHS.
    The problem: I coulnd found any driver for the network card.
    DELL Support means nothing.
    SCALEO Support knows nothing.

    Thanks for any helpfull hints in advance.

  • Hi,
    you will need 32 Bit drivers for the network card - Vista drivers usually work best. Extract them to a USB drive, attach it to the PC and in the recovery environment search for device drivers.
    If you cant get extracted drivers from Dell, check which network adapter chip your machine uses and download the drivers from the chip maker directly.
    Should this also not work, check this FAQ.

  • Thank you Olaf for the excellent FAQ write-up.  I had a hard drive fail on one computer last week and got the network error trying to restore from the computer.  With your advice, I was able to restore to a new hard drive in less than 20 minutes.  Thanks again and I owe you virtual six pack of beer (the good stuff of course, German beer)...  :-)
