Using advanced find to locate leads with no open activities RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi Guys

This one has been baffling me for a while and I now need some help if at all possible.

I am trying to find all open leads without open activities against them, however it would seem all of my attempts have so far resulted in no joy.

I believe that an advanced find such as below should work

    Activity Status equals Open

    Activities regarding

Activity status does not equal Open

However the results that i get bring back open activities... most frustrating...

    Does anyone have the answer?

    Thanks

    Allan

  • Hi,

I believed the best way to do it is to do a custom report for your case. The current version of CRM not able to accomplish what you are looking for in advanced find, I hope the next version will resolve this issue.

  • Hi,

You will want to search on Active Leads and then select the related field of Activities Regarding.  Once you have activities regarding, select Activity Status = Open and that should give you the return set you are looking for.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Donna

Thanks for your reply, however the given solution returns those leads with open activities.  I need to find those without any open/pending activities.

Even by changing the activity status to does not equal, seems to bring back results with open activities... most bizarre

i would imagine where teh record is held for activities/history is not based on activity status (although it should be)

    thanks again

  • I apologize, I initially misread the request.  However, the solution would not work anyway as you experienced.

I think the reason this is not working as expected is because the Lead records in the dataset might have both Open and Closed activities.  Therefore the query is returning the record if there is an open activity because it evaluates each activity and found a closed activity agains the record.  Hopefully this makes sense.

I would probably create a report for this and, using SQL, filter on only those records I wanted to see.  You will have more control over the recordset.

    Best Regards,

  • Did you ever get any luck on this. I am having the same problem. I want a list of all my Leads that DO NOT have any Activities Regarding them. Since that way I know what still needs to be followed up on.
