connection to the network printer is denied RRS feed

  • Question

  • i work as an equipment assistant in a math computer lab of a community college that has about 60 pcs. then we have set up a network printer for printing. we also create profiles and accounts for students, and they have to log on each time they use computers.

recently, there's a connection problem between a local computer and a network printer. when logged onto computers as students, the connection to the printer is denied, but when logged onto computers as administrators, the connection works fine. even we add the network printer (logged on as admin) in the control panel, the connection problem occurs from time to time.

so i am wondering if there's anything i can do to fix the connection issue? because it's annoying when students want to print but they cant and we have to waste their time waiting while we install the printer in the local computers.

the local computers are running windows vista business, and the servers are running windows server 2003 standard edition.

also, when we add the network printer, first we have to connect to the server before we can access to the printer, which requires the server admin password.

  • Hello Hazard031642,

Thank you for your post! As per your information when student logged with their profile connection to the network printer is denied, but with administrator account it works fine. I need some information whether all user logged in domain? have you set up any policy for all user? Whether they are in restricted policy? Please check the group policy for all user. kindly inform if this could help.

    Have a great day!
