Is upgrading MCSE 2003 to MCSE:Cloud platform & Infrastructure 2016 possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my very old MCSE 2003 to latest MCSE 2016. Is this possible? If so, which exams would I need to take to get there?

    Many thanks,

    James.

  • I just found this article which indicates that I could just sit exam 70-417 to get MCSA 2012.

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16483.upgrade-from-mcsamcse-2003-to-mcsa-server-2012.aspx

    And this, https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/learning/exam-70-417.aspx

Not sure how accurate this is?

  • Hello James,

The information is correct. The exam 70-417 will upgrade your knowledge to MCSA Windows Server 2012 (http://www.koenig-solutions.com/courseDetailSales.aspx?cid=2329). Thereafter, you can give 70-743 to upgrade your knowledge to MCSA Windows Server 2016.

    Thanks,

    Nick

  • I don't think there is any kind of an upgrade path or upgrade exam for that.  The knowledge will transfer, but you'll still need to take all the component exams to get an MCSE 2016.

  • Thank you for your answer.

What about going from MCSE 2003 to MCSE 2012?

  • Same answer.  Its been too many years and too many versions of the server in-between.
