I am getting the following error on many servers and do not know what is causing the error. I have been given the task to investigate why this is happening - out of 65 servers there is only 5 that do not have the error in event viewer. The date and times of the reboots vary so there isn't a common thread there. By using VMWare we have the same settings for the virtual hardware settings, we use the same version of the OS software on all servers Windows 20003 sp2 and the security patches get pushed at the same time to all of the servers. All of the servers have the same software delivered via CA software delivery pushes.
Event ID: 6008 Source: Event Log Type: Error Description: The previous system shutdown at Time on Date was unexpected.
In researching event id 6008 I've seen that it could be Heat, Bad power supply, Faulty power source, Flaky program or service, Graphics adapter, Memory, etc. but I am able to rule out these because we are using a VMWare environment that is sharing the power, memory, adapters, etc.
