Linksys Eg1032 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I used this network card which 1000mb, and I can get really good transfer rates even with cat6 cable and gigabit router.  Does that card not work well with win2k home server?

  • Unfortuntately, I do not see that card listed on the Windows 2003 Hardware COmpatibility List located here:

Linksys's website does not list a Server 2003 driver for that card either.

I would recommend trying a card that has Windows Server 2003 driver available.

    Good Luck

  • My EG1032 seems to be working fine with the XP drivers.

  • There are 3 different versions of this card and they all use different chipsets.

Version 1 uses a National chipset

Version 2 uses a Marvell chipset

Version 3 uses a Realtek chipset

  • The card works, but regardless of cable (I have used cat 6), I am not able to obtain a transfer rated greater 4 megabytes/sec.  My server a P4 2gighz dell 4550 machine with 1 gigabyte of memory. The transfer is very slow and I can copy between other machines on my network at a rate 20 megabytes/sec.  BTW, I have obtained this transfer rate on Home server RC.  What could be going on?
