Delete Account? Surely not...? RRS feed

  • Question

  • At the top of the Mesh desktop, you have your name and a drop down next to it, giving options. Those two options are View Account and Delete Account. Clicking on view account takes you to http://account.live.com/ where you can change things like your LiveID locale. So presumably, delete account does exactly what it says, deletes your whole LiveID account, not your Mesh account. I'm basing that assumption on the fact that if it was your Mesh account, clicking on View Account would show you details of your mesh account.

If my assumption is correct, why is this the only service that offers you to delete your whole account? And more importantly, why does it off you this?

  • Scott, Delete Account does indeed only delete your Live Mesh Account (unprovisions you from the system). It does not harm your LiveID in any way. The page it takes you to clearly asks whether you want to delete your Live Mesh Account and warns you that all your live folders will be lost if you do so.

  • Thanks for the reply Archis. I did consider clicking through and seeing what options it offered, but didn't want to risk losing my account ;) (Mesh or LiveID).

Might I add a suggestion that it is made slightly clearer, instead of having Delete Account, how about Delete Mesh Account?

  • Hello,

The "Delete Account" option will only delete your Live Mesh account.  Your LiveID will remain the same.

And Scott - If you click it, the site will first guide you to a confirmation page :)

    Hope this helps,
