Invalid Product Key RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center? Home

    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?  OEMAct HP

    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering? HP

    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing. The Product Key that is on the computer does not work. When I try to register it to use Microsoft programs, it says it is invalid. So, I cannot use many of the programs on my computer. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jessica

  • Hello jlancaster,

The Product Key (found on the sticker on the side or bottom of your computer) is for Windows only and will not work for Office.

Full Versions of Office do not, normally, come standard on computers. (i.e. Computers that come with Vista, do not automaticlly come with a full version of Office)

Computer Manufacturers (such as Dell, Gateway, HP and others) will often include a Trial version of Office, which allows you to use it for a limited time, but if you wish to continue using it, you would need to by a Full Version of Office.

If the copy of Office, that came included in your computer, is supposed to be a Full Version, then Office would either already be activated, from the factory or the Product Key would be included in the documentation that came with the computer. If you are unable to find the Office Product Key and you still believe that the computer should have come with a Full Version of Office, please contact the Person, Company, and/or the Computer Manufacturer, that built and/or sold you the computer.

    Thank you,
