Activation Problem After Hard Drive Replacement RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

My hard drive recently died and I had to replace it. I reinstalled Vista but when I try to activate it, it says the product key is already in use and therefore invalid. I saw a similar thread (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistainstall/thread/D8341B33-052B-4E3C-8F4B-F376CD4E070C ) where it was advised to run slui 4 and to call the number listed. I tried that, but get no answer from the phone. Below is the MGA run info.

  • Hello again, As it turns out, I'm just an idiot. We had a weird conflict with our phone lines and it turns out that my phone wasn't working. I called the Microsoft line, and it worked -- my windows is now properly activated.
