outlook client cannot connect RRS feed

    I have crm 4 running on https.(https://crm.clientserverexample.com)  Using web client is working fine.  When trying to install the outlook client.  The install cannot connect to the server(port 80 is closed).  It works when opening port 80. 


    So i opened port 80 installed it.  outlook client worked fine.  closed port 80 and the taskbar says that I lost connection. 


    The client requiers ssl due to the data.  If the client application needs port 80 to talk to the server then that's fine but I can't have the client application sending actual crm sensitive data through port 80.


    Do you guys know if the data is secure and the app just needs port 80 to do some type of webservice stuff or there is something wrong and everything should be working under 443?
