Everythings been fine...until now. XP won't validate? invalid product key? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I  built a from scratch PC.  Installed a windows 7 partition and an xp pro partition (I wanted to run games that wouldnt' work well in virtual PC, but I did also install virtual PC.)  I bought 2 OEM licenses.  One for XP and one for Win7.  But now the XP Pro won't validate.  I've been running WGA things in the past like Microsoft security essentials and haven't had a problem.  I got no error when I installed windows that the key was invalid.  I've already activated this operating system also.

I seldom use this partition (it's been months), but I finally wanted to play a game and now I'm stuck with being told that my product ID is invalid??  The install disk I have is holgraphic and it has a small booklet that came with it with the multicolored sticker on the back that has the shiny strip. There was no retail box.  It looks like a legit OEM disk and the seller has a perfect reputaion in reviews.  The product ID sticker says OEM software on it.  So I'm confused as to what's up and where to go from here.

    Thanks for any advice.

  • You state "I bought 2 OEM licenses.  One for XP and one for Win7." - but your MGADiag report says something entirely different. Your install of Windows XP is using a Retail License.

How did you purchase this license, and how did you acquire the disk?
