WM 6.1 Calendar issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I have a new HTC Touch 3G running WM6.1. I sync my Outlook 2007 calendar using Windows Mobile Device Center.

    Problems -

'All day' events are not shown in the 'month' view. The phone knows about them, they are visible in a day view on the correct day, but I use the month view and would like to see them there.

Holidays - I live in Australia and only a few holidays are shown, many are missing. Christmas, New Year, but not Easter etc. The holidays in DST are shown one day too early
i.e. New Year is on 31st December.

I know that this is not a new problem, it just seems to have a different twist to what has been reported over two or possibly more years.

It is a shame that it has not been fixed yet.

    Joe

P.S.  What will WM 6.5 Calendar be like - the same problems?

    Joe

    Edit:

Following several hours of web searches, downloads and updates, I have managed to fix (or find a work-around) to the problems.
I still believe it is a shame that I had to do so much 'hunting'. I do regular updates to all Microsoft programs, yet the DST tool was not on my machine.
Regarding the necessary update to my Touch - this should have been done automatically when starting my new phone for the first time.

The workaround to all-day events not showing in montly view is to set them to show as anything but free. This should not be necessary. As long as any event shows in the monthly view on the desk Outlook, it should show on the phone.

While doing all this, I found another problem. Holidays are shown in red digits, the same as Sundays. Hence holidays which fall on a Sunday - Mothers Day - are not recognisable as holidays. What a mess. How difficult it would be to put an H on the screen for holidays???

  • Joe - Thank you for sharing your feedback and your fix/workaround for one of the issues:

For other's fyi since the first post can't be marked as the "answer" - here is Joe's fix/work-around:
"The workaround to all-day events not showing in montly view is to set them to show as anything but free. This should not be necessary. As long as any event shows in the monthly view on the desk Outlook, it should show on the phone."

Also , regarding the issue you describe of daylight savings time (DST) Holidays showing as one-day off, here is a related posting with status feedback from my colleague 2GrokMobile:

We appreciate the detailed descriptions you provided and I've make sure the team has seen each of your areas of feedback. I'm marking this thread as answered for our team's tracking purposes, but we will still view these issues and anyone can continue to post replies.

  • Thanks Joe,

I'm glad you found the DST update.  We don't send that down via Windows Update (the version contained on the phone) because currently the Mobile Operators only want us to provide critical/security updates through Windows Update.  We're working to change that, and DST is a good example of where the update would be a benefit, and I suspect that based on the increase in support calls to Mobile Operators and OEMs when the time changes, partners understand this too, and are looking for the right way to make it happen.

Thank you for the suggestion regarding all day appointments in the Month view.  I'll make sure that the team sees that.

    Thanks

  • Thank you, 2GrokMobile for noticing my comments.

I wonder whether you have seen my problems with holidays which happen to fall on Sunday, like Mothers' Day.

They are "hidden" in monthly view, because Saturdays and Sundays and holidays are all shown with red numbers. Holidays shoud have different colour from Sundays.

    Regards
