Reinstalling WinXP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I hope someone can shed some light here.

Last week I purchased all of the components to make a PC for a specific purpose at my office. I am now attempting to install WinXP SP2 Upgrade onto the PC. It is being installed onto a mirrored drive set.

Setup progresses fine past all the options for where to install Windows etc, it them begins copying files and hangs up on oembios.bin. It says it cannot copy the file. From what I have been able to see, this file is related to versions of Windows packaged with a retail computer from a manufacturer such as Dell or HP. This computer is not from a vendor, it has been pieced together from components for a specific purpose that an off-the-shelf PC cannot perform. The OS was purchased at the same time as the computer components, and I have the original Win2K OS disk from the computer that this one is replacing.

Anyone have an idea how to make this work?
