Web and A/V Conferencing question RRS feed

We are in the process of planning and deploying OCS for multiple sites. I was wondering how OCS handles A/V and Web conferencing across sites. DO you connect to a local A/V or Web conferencing server which then multi-plexes all traffic to the A/V server hosting the conference or do all users connect , irrespective of location, back to the MCU hosting the conference?

  • Hi,
Livemeeting users will connect to the "home server" of whichever user initiated the conference. In otherwords if
you have 30 users in the US
    30 users in the UK
the US has an A/V and webconf server
the UK has its own A/V and webconf

If a UK user starts a LiveMeeting for all 60 people - the 30 US users all come across the WAN in individual streams to the UK A/V server. They don't connect to their local A/V server.

So it's the later of your suggestions: all users connect back to the MCU hosting the conference.

    Regards,
    Matt
