MS Office Pro is now reported as non genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have biought a copy of Office 2007 Pro in the US, and got the software shipped to Germany. The package looks like original, there is also a MS logo on the box.

But I get the "not genuine notofication" now. I have a copy of this Office installed on my desktop and working flawlesly, however the netbook installation on a Sony Vaio VGN-P is affected.
I have already tried some tips from the Internet, including deactivating some registry keys, but to no avail.

This Vaio has had a preinstalled test version of Office Home & Student, but I deinstalled that to replace it with Office Pro.

Here is the report I generated:

The Office Professional Plus 2007 installed on your Sony computer is an edition of Office that is properly sold only thru the Volume Licensing program to businesses, educational institutions, and governmental agencies.  This installation was done with an invalid Product Key made by a pirating program known as a Key Generator.  The product key was NOT issued by Microsoft, making it Invalid.

If your use of the installed Office Professional Plus 2007 is in association with a business, educational institution, or governmental agency that might have a Volume Licensing Agreement with Microsoft, please report this nongenuine problem to your organization's IT support staff for further troubelshooting and resolution.

If you are an individual consumer, you should never have been sold Volume Licensing materials such as a VL disc, and you certainly should not have received an Invalid Product Key.  Quite often people purchase what is advertised and packaged as a retail license for Office Professional 2007, but all too often, the product they receive is a counterfeit Office package that installs a nongenuine copy of Office Professional Plus 2007.  Could this be the situation in your case?

Your first course of action is to confront your seller with this information and demand a ful refund.  If the seller refuses to help, please pursue whatever remedies are available to you thru the selling venue, your payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc), or the legal system in your area.

Also, depending upon whether you received "high quality" counterfeit materials, you may qualify for the Office Complimentary Offer or for the Office Genuine Advantage discounted offer.  Please see the FAQ here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC  If you decide to participate in the Office Genuine Offer, please initiate the process by clicking on the "Learn More Online" link shown in the nongenuine notices on your screen.

  • Hello

Thank you very much for your answer. I have bought this copy of Office on eBay as Office Professional 2007 Full Factory Sealed Retail Box .
Because it allowes installation on 3 PCs I have installed it on my desktop, where I do NOT get any such messages and on my Vaio.
So this makes me curious, why the desktop is not reporting Office as non genuine, bu the Vaio is...
My desktop did not have any Office preinstalled, on Vaio there was Home&Student trial.

I will try to contact the seller with the information above, but am afraid he will not react. Of course in that case I will try to participate in the program you mentioned.

Thanks again for looking and best regards
    Jerzy

  • Hello JerzyC,

You wrote, "Because it allowes installation on 3 PCs I have installed it on my desktop, where I do NOT get any such messages and on my Vaio."

If you installed the product purchased on eBay on another computer (your desktop), and it is not reporting as nongenuine, it may be because the desktop does not have Windows Update KB949810 installed.

You can check the desktop's Office installation by clicking on the Validate Windows button at www.microsoft.com/genuine.  Or, you can run the mgadiag utility on the desktop computer.  If it's the same Office you bought on eBay, it should come up nongenuine.  If it does not come up as nongenuine, then if you'd like you can post the report from the desktop here and we will take a look at it for you.

One final note, there is only one edition of Office 2007 that allows three simultaneous installations, and that is the retail license for Office Home and Student 2007.  Other retail licenses for Office allow up to two installations, one on the license holder's main computer, and the other on the license holder's portable (aka laptop) computer.  Of course, Office 2007 OEM licenses for all Office editions only allow the license to be installed on the original computer--OEM licenses are not permitted to be moved to any other computer.

  • Hello

    Thank you for you answer.
The product description on eBay contained the misleading info about 3 installations. I need 2 installations - desktop and laptop.
Unfortunately also the OGA test on desktop brought invalid VLK...
I tried to contact the seller, but he does not answer.
Now I tried to follow the instructions given by the validation utílity, but unfortunately the process stucks at the reporting page.
The pages are loaded in German and I cannot force the tool to go to English pages.
After clicking on the request link, I am brought to a page, where I shall chose my region - I am located in Germany, so I chose that country and click next.
On the next page I check the box and am brought to the page, where I want to tell, that I've bought the software online.
After selecting that, I get: "No pages found with: genuine office PurchaseInfoReport aspx". And that's it...
    Can you please help?

    Best regards

  • After having noticed, that the Office version I have must be pirated, I would like to go through the replacement process.

So after having verrified my Office I click the corresponding link. But when I come to the page, where I can chose where I've bought the software and I select an option there I am brought immediately to a BING search page, informing me, that "genuine office PurchaseInfoReport aspx" cannot be found. And now I even cannot report the pirated software.

I am starting all the processes in Windows 7 logged  to an accout with administrator rights.

What shall I do now to report to Microsoft and get a replacement for my softeware?

Thank you very much and best regards

  • Hello JerzyC,

Your mgadiag report contains some irregular entries regarding your Windows 7 installation, and these problems may be causing your issue with the purchaseinforeport.aspx file not being found.

According to this page http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/specifications/index.aspx?m=VGN-P11Z_G&l=en_GB at Sony-Europe support, your Sony netbook came with Vista Home Premium.  Whatever method you are using to perpetually rearm the Windows 7 Home Premium installation now on the computer (based on the mgadiag report telling us that your rearm count is 4) may be causing your issue with the Office Genuine Advantage Ordering system not working on the computer.

  • Hello again

Is it possible, that the non-genuine message is caused by an installation of this package on 3 computers instead of 2?
In fact I have forgotten having installed the software on the desktop, netbook AND in a virtual machine, which will most certainly be treated as a separate computer. If it is so, I simply would deinstall Office from the VM.
The German Microsoft support gave me this information, but they also stated I would be allowed only ONE installation with my retail version of Office Professiional. Can you confirm this or is it really two installations?

Thank you very much for your quick answer
    Best regards
    Jerzy

  • Hello JerzyC,

You wrote, "Is it possible, that the non-genuine message is caused by an installation of this package on 3 computers instead of 2?"

No.  The nongenuine message is caused by the fact that your copy of Office is a nongenuine Volume Licensing installation done with a nongenuine Invalid Volume Licensing Key.  The number of times this nongenuine license is installed has nothing to do with the installations reporting as nongenuine on your computers.

If a genuine license were installed too many times, when it came time to activate the last one that stepped over the limit allowed, the error message returned would be along the lines of "This copy of Office has been installed too many times."

I have the most experience with USA editions of Office and their Software Licensing Terms.  It is possible that in other countries or regions the licensing terms are different.  Regardless of what people tell you on a message board or over the phone, the only true source for the Software Licensing Terms  (SLT) that apply to you are the ones that come with genuine software.  You may be able to look up the SLTs that apply for Germany by going to the part of the Microsoft German language/regional website that has the equivalent of the following page:  http://www.microsoft.com/About/Legal/EN/US/IntellectualProperty/UseTerms/Default.aspx

Even so, the SLTs that come with the software may not apply to you if you purchase the software in one region with one set of SLTs and have it shipped to another regtion with another set of SLTs, as it would ahve been when you bought software in the USA and had it shipped to Germany.  You may want to contact Microsoft's legal department in Europe to ask them which set of SLTs would apply:  http://www.microsoft.com/europe/index.html

  • Hi

Unfortunately exactly the same - I am taken to that page: https://www.microsoft.com/library/errorpages/smarterror.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/genuine/office/PurchaseInfoReport.aspx

Sorry - I really tried even to switch off all security including firewall and IE security settings on my netbook to no avail.
Now I am in a trap - I would like to finalize the report, but cannot go through a missing aspx... And I use Internet Explorer already for that, not Firefox.

    Best regards

  • Hello JerzyC,

I think you have tried everything that is at your disposal, but so far with no success.

If you were in the USA, this would be the link to use for free email tech support for OGA problems:   https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&c1=505&gprid=11482&&st=1&wfxredirect=1

Not sure how you would get to the equivalent German page.

  • Thank you!

This address is taking me to the German page automatically, even if I would have preffered to contact Microsoft in the US.
Nevertheless I was able to write my plea there :)
Now I shall wait for the response.

Best regards and again many thanks for your patience
