Dashboard Customization RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am just starting to experiment with dashboards and I was wondering what are the limitations for the dashboards that you can create using the dashboard wizard.  Is it that you can only have 2 variables in a dashboard created by the wizard?  Something like show me all open opportunities by sales stage.

Is it when you want 3 or more variables or if you want to go across entities that you need to go to something like SQL Reporting Services and then embed the results into CRM?

  • If you need custom parameters and variables a standard SSRS report might be a better option.

  • Hi Rick as Jamie described if you need complex reports, you can create complex reports

but you go across entities using wizard, for creteria you can go across as many entities as possible but you can display fields only for immediate relationship.

Have a look at the follwoing advance find query (You can create advance find queries for charts and reports)

The above adv find query will display all the opportunities where potential customer (Contact) is from new york and the the contact is part od the account where relationship type is investor.

You can get the columns back from opportunity and the related contact but not from the account related to the contacts.

    I hope this helps.
