Build 7601 Windows is not genuine and license is invalid

Question
-
I have had Windows 7 for the past year and a half or so and have reinstalled the update from XP on this computer when my original hard drive failed. After running the latest batch of Microsoft Updates I am getting the Build 7601 not genuine error. I have tried all the other suggestions in the other posts and have not been able to correct the problem. When I originally ran this tool I did not get the Invalid License error, but I rebooted the computer a couple times trying things others suggested before I realized I'd need this. Here's the diagnostic report

Got into normal mode and it also didn't work. A friend of mine advised me to just reinstall the OS and that solved the problem, or at least it seems to have. I appreciate the assistance provided here

On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0x46' to display the error text.
Error: 0x46Hmmm - this error is not terribly informative, and the Cached Validation error contradicts the result later in the report....Please go to the Validation site and attempt to Validate Windows.see what that has to say - if it fails, make a note of the error, and go to the Diagnostics siteand see if that shows up any problems - follow any advice given, and when you get all green, try validation again.post back with your results, and a new MGADiag report.

True - and thanks for spotting it (it's way past my bedtime!)Where did you get that version form??<quote>To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

Thought I had downloaded the recent one from Microsoft but looking at the provided link has given me the recent version. I attempted to do the validation and it failed (I am running this from Safe Mode w/ Networking if that matters) and then tried the Diagnostics and that came back with all passes. Attempted validation again and ran the html version of the tool and it also failed. The new report follows:

You can't validate properly in Safe Mode - the Software Protection Service doesn't run there. Can you not get into Normal Mode? (your initial post appeared to be from normal mode?)

Reinstall is a fairly drastic solution - but one that often works :)You're welcome, and Good Luck.
