Synctoy has encountered a problem and needs to close RRS feed

    Hi,

Yesterday I started Synctoy and got this error message right away.  I don't know what has changed on my PC (XP) since I run Synctoy every couple of weeks.  I rebooted and got the error again.

I uninstalled rebooted, installed 1.4 and got the same error.  Rebooted and installed 2.0 and got the same error.

Has anyone seen this before?  I would hate to stop using Synctoy, it works really well.

  • In my case it seems to be due to tha fact that I had recently done an XP restore to an earlier date.

As soon as I restored back to a later date, SyncToy burst into action.

Perhaps some .NET update that got removed doing the first restore?  I don't know, but at least I'm back in business with SyncToy!

  • Thats interesting to know that its something to do with the restore operation... i guess the problem in my laptop too is because of restore that i did at some point of time.. but i dont remember when this happened and hence i cannot go back to the original state...

is there any other way to get rid of this problem and get SyncToy up and running... can some one please help.

  • Hi -

If SyncToy cannot open - it indicates a more general problem that something with the application itself. It is quite possible that you do not have the right .net Framework ( we need 2.0) installed.
