Windows 7 Pro OA not legit? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have used this product for over a year. My brother in law bought this over the internet off craigslist. anyway he gave it to me and I installed on the computer. After 30 days of having it I get a nice little pop up that says my license/ windows 7 Pro OA is not valid. I ran the windows validation tool and it validated it as legit. So the "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine" went away that appeared at the bottom right of my screen. Well about a month ago I had to nuke my computer because I had some nasty viruses on my computer. Well once again it's saying its not valid! I have ran the requirement again as before and this time unlike last time it keeps saying its not valid, but it did last time???????? what is the issue here! Also in the diagnostic Report that is not the correct windows product key that matches on the sticker that I entered when I installed it the first and second time that was accepted. If you want that key I will give it to you windows staff....

  • "bought this over the internet off craigslist" - this is the first trouble marker. The install is for an OEM SLP which is installed in the factory only. The machine in question is a Dell, but yours is an MSI. And you are correct, the key does not match what is on the COA sticker, but it needs to. This install will never activate on this computer. You will need to get a legal retail copy of Windows 7, reformat and reinstall.

  • why did it activate the first time though?

  • Don't know, but it is a pirated OEM SLP copy of Windows 7.  You will need to purchase a genuine "full version"edition of Windows 7 and perform a "clean install".

  • um....how do you know its pirated? It's packaged 100% the exact way that you get it from the store nothing is different.

  • Its a:  Windows License Type: OEM SLP.  It is only sold to large PC manufacturers such as Dell, HP, Gateway, Lenovo, etc. and not to individuals.  Please note the packaging was likely created to look genuine, but its not.  Please see:  How to Tell.
