Blue Screen on Boot from install DVD RRS feed

  • Question

I am getting a blue screen crash on start up from the DVD. The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA K8U-939, 1G memory, with an ATI Radeon display card, 1 SATA drive, IDE DVD and 1 IDE HD.  The system already has Windows 2000 installed (was planning to wipe out for install).

When booting from the DVD, I get a quick look at the boot animation and then I get a Machine Check 0x00000009C (0x0000004, 0x80A43EC8, 0x00070F0F)

    I assume it's hardware related?

I tried a Windows VISTA business edition DVD and booted from that and also crashes in pretty much the same place.

    Any suggestions?

Ooops, never mind.  I found advice on how to fix on another site - made the SATA drive a RAID v. IDE and it gets through.
