  • Question

  • Hi All,

My question is in regards to setting up WHS Remote Access.

I am stuck at this point trying to establish remote access to my WHS. When I check the domains.live admin center, I see the site I created but receive the warning shown in the title of this post. Do I need to create an external account with Go Daddy or Dyndns to be able to simply type in my site name? I just don't understand what this page is asking me to do. I can access my site by entering xxx.xxx.xx but I am unable to do so by entering https://subdomain.homerserver.com.

Thanks in advance for the help.

First, make sure you are doing the correct domain name as yours says homerserver.com.  It should be homeserver.com.  In any event, it should be automatic.  So if your domain name was just a typo, you might try again in a few hours (or, if GoDaddy is having server issues, it might be a problem until tomorrow).

  • Thanks Kariya21.

You're correct about the spelling mistake. I still get the same message even when I pay closer attention to my grammar. But my original question is still unanswered, do I need a third party DNS Registar or will Microsoft handle everything. I set up the domain name https://www.subdomain.homeserver.com address two days ago. How long does it typically take to propagate?

  • Days, if Live is having issues.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
