Is there a limit to how wide angled a lens that ICE can handle? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I was trying to stitch images taken with a fisheye lens, but rectilinearized using RectFish before stitching. The images were vertical orientation and rectilinearized to what correspind to about a 8 mm rectilinear lens on "full frame" 24x36 mm - it had about 130° hAOV and 110° vAOV. Images had about 50% overlab.

However, ICE was not able to stitch the images correct as if it "underestimated" their angle of view.

So, does anyone know if there is a limit to how wide a lens that can be used? I have succesfully stitched images from a 12 mm rectilinear with ICE.

  • Great question, I hope it is answered soon! I just loaded the program I have been using an 18mm, I am somewhat pleased with the test result from the 18mm, it's not perfect but still it's rather impressive!  However I will be testing a 10mm when it arrives.

I will be posting my findings when I have had time to work with the ICE program and ny new 10mm.
