Sync mobile tasks with outlook tasks, gmail tasks, sidebar tasks?

Question
-
I live by a to-do list, that I go through and edit daily. Currently, I use the "PowerDo" Sidebar gadget, but I would LOVE to get in the habit of using a program, be it Outlook Tasks, Gmail Tasks, or some task gadget for the Vista sidebar, THAT I CAN SYNC WITH MY PHONE (Samsung Jack, WM 6.1) As far as I know, the only thing I can do is create lists on gmail tasks, then go on IE on my phone and access them there.
Does the task program on the phone sync with outlook? If not, is there someway I can create/edit to-do lists on both my phone and my laptop that will sync with each other?Monday, December 21, 2009 8:58 AM

Are you syncing your device with your PC using WMDC (if running Vista or Win7) or Activesync (if running XP)? If you are then one of the items you can choose to sync is Tasks.

Thanks for the reply!!
I have not tried using WMDC yet. The Microsoft website says nothing under tasks about being able to sync stuff. I'll look it up and try it later today.
On a side note, is Windows Phone going to upgrade their Tasks system so that you can categorize and subcategorize like on Google tasks or even outlook?
**For the Windows Phone Team - the website could be a lot better at explaining the full capabilities of the OS, like having information about how to sync tasks under "Tasks." http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-1/Tasks-nontouch.aspxTuesday, December 22, 2009 4:18 PM -
Unfortunately we are not privy to the changes that are in the works ... but I will say that folks have asked for that for a while. I sure hope that it is in the plans.

Syncing between your computer's Outlook application & your windows phone tasks, contacts, and schedule is a fundamental use for windows mobile devices and has been supported since the very first pocket pc.
If you want more functionality than what the mobile tasks application provides, you might want to look at some 3rd party software task software that uses the task database on your windows phone (so the data will still sync to your computer), but provides a more powerful user experience. If you google "to do list windows mobile" you may find some interesting options to explore.
I've used Agenda Fusion for several years to manage my contacts, appointments and tasks on my windows mobile devices. The tasks module of this software includes a projects option which allows me to roll up tasks into projects, which allows me to categorize and sub-categorize my tasks. These projects do not sync to Outlook on my computer, but I prefer to work with my tasks on my handheld, so that's really not a big deal to me.
