How can I download and setup a local DNS server using powershell? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've seen many guides explaining how to do this, but none of them worked.

I think it's because I'm not on a "Windows Server" on any kind.

My machine is Windows 10 and my PowerShell is on version 5.0.

  • You cannot install DNS on Windows 10.  DNS is a role that can be installed on any version of Windows Server.

  • What about it? Did you read the documentation?

    https://github.com/PowerShell/xDnsServer/blob/dev/README.md

Before attempting to install or run anything from anywhere on the Internet you must learn PowerShell and about the Internet and computers.  You cannot just guess at these things.  Guessing will get you into trouble and will waste everyone's time.
