Deploy to multiple geographical regions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We would like to use MS CRM 4.0 as our help desk system but as we have offices in multiple geographical regions with a single domain (replicated between sites), all data needs to be available at all locations. I.E. an incident (case) might be logged at location A and assigned to a person in location B. I thought of using SQL Server Merge Replication to transfer data between the sites but read in the Sharing Data Across CRM Deployments White Paper that peer-to-peer and merge replication is not supported. Data needs to be hosted at the different geographical regions as the links between the different sites are not very reliable.

Has anyone ever configured MS CRM 4.0 in this manner or know of any resources that might point me in the right direction. The SQL replication scenario explained in the white paper (Transactional Replication) is not sufficient as data editing should be available at all locations.

    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Unless there is some way to set up a geographically distributed SQL server farm, I don't think you can replicate the data as you wish. I'd consider a hosted solution or a centralised on premise solution with users employing the Outlook client in offline mode and prediodically synching when a  connection is available.
