Win7 installation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Toshiba celeron 2.7 with Vista Ultimate. It has 2GB of Ram but only 30GB (really abt.28GB) of hard disc of which 23GB is already used.

The Vista is invalid (a long story but no fault of mine) and has to be replaced. I have purchased Windows 7 Home Premium.

I checked with Windows upgrade advisor that the computer is suitable but that there was insufficient room. I mentioned this to the Software supplier and emphasised that the Vista had to be removed to make room. He advised that when I installed Win 7 I would be asked if I wanted to remove the existing program(vista) and replace it and all would be OK.

I used the Windows upgrade advisor and proceeded as advised but was asked no question. I was simply advised that there was insufficient room in the C drive. I think I have done  everything correctly and have been advised in a different Forum that it should have worked simply by rebooting the computer from the installation disc but I could not get that to work either. As`far as I know I have a new Home Premium disc and not an update one.

Can anyone tell me what to do. I am stuck at the moment.

    Colin Harrison.
