  • For the anti-malware itself, how about the free Microsoft Security Essentials that is replacing it world wide?  See the posts at the top of the General forum that discuss this and where to get it.

    This won't include backup, firewall, printer sharing or other tune-up features, but all of these are built-in or automated in Windows 7 which began sales today, so if your PC is new enough upgrading to that may make more sense.  You'll really get far more out of the upgrade than you will out of 'patching' the old operating systems with third-party add-ons.
