Can not activate ms money RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using Quicken for awhile and decided to go back to MS Money.  After reloading it from my original disk it asks me for my password before beginning the set up.  It has been so long since i used Money that I forgot it. Cannot get into the set up.  Any way around this?  When I originally used Money I don't remember having to enter a password.

    Thanks   BOB

  • If you want to start fresh with Money, see the first "sticky" thread in this forum:

    https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/479281b2-90f9-42ca-85f7-644fc6e1e5c3/download-microsoft-money-installation-files-solve-activation-and-some-other-errors?forum=money

and download the version of Money that is appropriate for your location (US, UK, etc.)

Money is now free but unsupported by Microsoft.  No activation or password is necessary.

If you are in the US, then the appropriate version is US Money Plus Deluxe Sunset.  In that case, note that there is a dll replacement that you should also do.  The is described in the second "sticky" thread in this forum:

    https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d28d6921-1f01-430f-b33e-f5a3ec47077b/important-patch-for-money-plus-maybe-20062007-mnyob99dll?forum=money

Post back an let us know how you make out and if you need any help with doing any this.

  • I think Quicken can export QIF files. I am not sure about that.

Money can import QIF files that each represent one account, but it can import a bunch at once. It figures out transfers during the multi-file import.
