What are the must-have certificates to start with the 70-492 exam RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am MCPD .NET 4.0 web developer.

I want to upgrade to MCSD.

I know I have to to get the 70-492 exam.

    1) I would like to know wether the exam 70-480 : Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3

is a requirement to start with the 70-492 exam.

I ask because I have read that the exam exam 70-486 has content which is asked in the 70-492 and 70-486 asks for HTML5 + CSS3 but 70-492 not when I look at both skills measured list...

    2) Can I also take the 70-486 + 70-487 and get the MCSD? Do I HAVE to take the upgrade path?

  • Hi, Elisabeth.

You do not have to take the upgrade exam.

You can just take 70-480, 70-486, and 70-487 to earn your MCSD title.

Myself, I prefer not to take upgrade exams because there are too many topics to prepare for.

Remember, after you pass the third exam, the two year recertification timer starts, where you will have to take a recertification exam after two (2) years.

    Good luck!
