Compaq Presario 3400+, OS XP Home Edition, Ver 2002 SP3.
When booting up, Compaq'a Data Execution Prevention closes Windows Explorer, to protect the computer.
Then MS OneCare ALWAYS finds Trojan:BAT/Secoff.A and claims to delete it. Then after a full scan it finds Backdoor:Win32/Rbot.gen!A and Worm:Win32/Pushbot.gen. It quarantines the Backdoor and Worm.
I have disconnected the computer from the Internet. After I re-boot, the same thing happens.
Under Tasklist, "project1" appears at times, adding many processes & then deletes itself.
I have disconnected the backup drive so that OneCare can no longer backup these viruses. Is it possible to clean these viruses off my PC for good, or must I re-format the hard drive?
If you are using Windows Live OneCare and you have been infected, but OneCare did not detect or cannot remove the malware, please contact support to report this and for help with removal.
