  • I am thinking about buying a real NAS system like a ReadyNas or setup a computer with WHS. I am usinging both Windows Vista and Windows 2000 systems. For me my Windows 2000 system is still importand, but will WHS support my Windows 2000 system?

2000 is not a supported OS (only XP and newer).  Having said that, you should be able to access the shares on your server from 2000, but you cannot backup a Windows 2000 PC to your server.

  • Thanks for answering,

How about a networked printer connected to the WHS?

  • It's the same as with the shares, as long as fitting printer drivers are available.

  • The printer driver model did not change a lot between Windows 2000 and XP, what you see if you click the button Additional Drivers on the sharing tab of the printer properties dialog.
