I bought a copy of Windows XP Pro to update from Windows 98.  I installed it  and it asked for activation.  I filled out the requested info and it downloaded some updates and I shut down the computer.  The next time I logged on it asked me to activate again, and when it took me to the screen, it said I had to phone in.  I called in and dealt with a recording and a long number broken up into alphabetic sections.  At the end it said it was sucessfull and to exit.  It then took me back to the sign in page which told me I needed to activate Windows.  I clicked on it again and it told me it was already activiated and sent me back to the sign in page, which then told me I needed to activate Windows again.  I just keep going around in circles.

Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • Please follow this simple troubleshooting procedure:

    1. Download and install the MGA Diagnostic Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".

    3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the "WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post. http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25

  • This does not help because it will not let me past the log in page so I can actualy access the drive and run the program, or have access to any of my icons including the start button.  I tried to boot the computer with the program in the drive, but it gives me an error message and will not continue to start.  Any other ideas?

    Thanks.
