70-553 = 70-526 + 70-528 + 70-536 ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to my understanding, exam 70-553 is a combination of 70-526, 70-528 and 70-536.
In fact, I passed this exam and I used the 3 related Microsoft books as preperation material.
In the exam, the questions were divided in 3 sections, all of which related to material contained in each individual books.

Now, after passing the 70-553, I was expecting to get credited for 70-526, 70-538 and 70-536 but haven't.
I got MCTS - Web/Windows application titles all right.
However, I was denied the Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Professional - Developer for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 title.
Although I have sucessfully passed both core CRM 4 exams and got 70-553.

I tried submitting a claim to MCP support and simply been told that I had to pass 70-528 or 70-526 or 70-536 again...
That sounds like a waste of my time and money.

Anybody has an idea on how I could get my claim heard?

  • Hi,

I am sorry to say this but you misunderstood the requirement of Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Professional – Developer for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.

70-553 exam will help you to upgrade your MCSD certification (If you already have the certification) to MCPD, but this exam doesn’t justify requirement of two electives exams of 70-528 and 70-526.

Unfortunately, you have to take these two exams (70-528 and 70-526) again.

I know this is something you don’t like to hear but Hope is helpful.

  • God, this is crazy...

Yes, I have the MCSD certification (for both VB6 and .Net 1.0).
I have decided to upgrade to .net 2.0 and took that cost efficient upgrade path.
One have to agree that it is not making much sense.  The upgrade path is a fast track for pre certified people to bring their certification up to date on subjects they are already certified on.

But I guess I can only shut up and swallow that pill.
Still, I will not go back and redo these tests anyway.
I'll probably wait untill I upgrade to .Net 3.5 and do the 70-503 instead.

Thanks for your answer, it is the clearest I've got so far.
MCP support staff were not very knowledgeable on that matter.
