  • Hi, Tom,

You can't run the "Windows HPC Server 2008" (HPC Pack) v2.0.1551 bits on the "Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC Edition" OS. You need to downgrade the OS to Windows Server 2008.

Separate from that, what application are you using to submit your job? It looks like you're submitting a SOA job from Excel; where did those binaries come from?

    Thanks, -- John

ETA: I should say, don't go downgrading your OS until we've figured out which Excel products you're trying to use! It's just that in any case, the combination of HPC Pack and Server OS you have there is unsupported and known to be broken. The right thing to do may actually be to upgrade your HPC Pack to one of the v3 Beta releases.

  • Hi Rae,

I'm afraid i can't remember if it was the beta or not. I have checked the version and it says Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC Edition Version 6.1 (Build 7600). Is that useful?

    Thanks

  • Tom, can you go to your admin console or job console and click Help->About? What version number do you see there?

  • Hi Rae,

do you have a link to the HPC Pack betas? Also i am running Excel 2007 with a COM addin and an in house developed SOA service. I think that this is working correctly because i can see some initial steps prior to job submission being executed.

    Thanks

  • Hi Rae,

I installed version 3 of the HPC Pack and the client utilities from version 2 and now it's up and running.

    Thanks for all your help.
