Windows 10 connector RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is ridiculous. I cannot get the connector software installed. I get a message that the server cannot be found, but I can see it and ping it. What is wrong?

  • Hi,

Please make sure that the computer is on the same IP subnet as WHS 2011.

If this problem also happens on other client device, please try to re-start IIS on WHS 2011 and check the result.

If this problem only happens on this specific client, please try to add WHS 2011 entry(IP address and corresponding server name) to local hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc) on the client. on the client, using command line “ipconfig /flushdns” to clear cache. And using “ipconfig /displaydns” to confirm that the retry is correctly added to hosts file.

Then, try to connect client to WHS and check the result.

  • Hi - even though I'm not the one that has asked the question, I want to thank you. Would never have guessed that something so simple helps.

But I have for the first time in a year successfully connected a Win10 Computer to my aging WHS 2011 !

(Previously, it never could connect even though it tried to Access the Server via the IP. Now that worked, and after reading the tip from https://technet.microsoft.com/library/computer-connection-support-2.aspx#BKMK_ServiceStopped I manually started all Services that had to do with certificates on the Server).
