Cannot restore archived projects RRS feed

  • Question

  • we are running MS Project Pro. 2007 and Server 2007.  my issue is with restoring projects we have archived and deleted.

these are the steps i take to accomplish this task:

    1. in pwa go to server settings

    2. administrtive backup

    3. select project then hit the backup button.

    4. then go back to server server settings

    5.  select the enterprise objects and remove the projects i dont want visible anymore.

the options i selected in this sections are: Projects, Proposals, and activities / Delete projects from draft and published database.

    6.  they are now gone. this is fine until this part.

    Restoring

    1. in server settings to to administrative restore and select the single file that i want to make visible again in Project Center.

    2. when i hit the retore button, i get sent to server settings, at this point i verify if it's still in the queue and i can see that if finishes but....

    WHERE DOES IT GOOOOOOO???????

i cannot see the file anywhere.  please help and thanks in advance.

  • I can't remember, but it may have gotten restored to Draft.  Open MS Project,
see if you can find the schedule, then republish.

  • i can find the project if i retrieve it from project pro.  but i find this to be a lame procedure.  are you telling me that microsoft created a restore function that does not restore the files back into project center???

  • I would look at it as a feature.  This allows you to review the restore before publishing it to confirm you restored the correct version.....or you can restore it, pull the information you need, and delete it, and never have to clutter up Project Center in the process.

  • how is it possible to clutter project center if you can only restore one project at a time?????  if i archieved and deleted 100 projects, but only want to restore 5 (as an example), i would need to go back into the administrative restore 5 times and do this for each project.

call it a feature, i call it annoying... ; )

  • One man's bug is another man's feature.
