(Auto) install of PP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I have both the HP MediaSmart WHS and a separate server that used to run PP1, it crapped out and won't even power on even after changing the power supply. I was having a common problem with viewing back-ups that was not resolved.

My question is: If I put the original HP MediaSmart WHS back on line with auto-update turn-on, will it be updated to any of the PP1 server builds? If so, then I will need to install the PP1 build to a laptop whichis the only box I have left to install on. Is there anything wrong with installing PP1 on a laptop?

    Thanks
    Jack

  • Jack,

If the HP box hasn't been on for a while, then yes, it should update after re-connection - assuming you have auto-update enabled. Once that is done, you will need to update your Client's Connector software - they will pop up a notification, telling you what to do.
Not too sure what you mean by the second part, are you wanting to install the server on a laptop? The power pack is a server update, so doesn't get applied to any Clients, apart as I said, the need to update the Connector.
