Password changes and cached login on wireless RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have several wireless laptops run Win 8.1 that remain at different company sites.  The user rotate between the sites.  If a user changes his password on one of the laptops, all the others continue to use the old cached password for the ext log in.  Because they are wireless they do not actually talk to the AD server to confirm that password until they are at the Desktop.  At that point the cache password is updated and they can use the new password.

As it may be several weeks (or months) between visits to a site, their password may get out of synch by ore than one password change and they no longer know the password to get into the laptop.  We have to have an admin log in and delete their local profile from the laptop before they can log in.

Any ideas on how to get the password to update on all the devices, so that they do not have to use the cacned password the first time on each laptop?

  • Hello,

You might ask in the Windows Server Security forum, or the Directory Services forum.

If all else fails ask in one of the Windows Server forums.

  • VPN into Corporate Domain, change password, lock computer, unlock computer, sign out of VPN. cached credintials updated.

( as i can only assume they are wireless users at client offices without network access to your domain )

wireless alone should not interfere with domain auth if you ARE on the same network and a domain controller is present in the network.
