Can not add user from a different domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,

after a crm migration (from 2011 to 2016) our customer is not able to create users, which are in another domain.

The CRM 2011 Server is still alive and here we can add the user from another domain (same users we tried in CRM 2016).

For some reason, if you go to a create form of the systemuser entity and type in the login name. CRM 2016 is able to retrieve the user specific information, but if you click save you got the following error message:

The domain logon for this user is invalid: (XXX) Select another domain logon and try again.

    The Accounts are enabled.

Both CRM Servers are on the same domain. Maybe someone has a suggestion how to troubleshoot such a problem ?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

  • I'm a bit confused. You said in the subject that they are from different domains, but then later said the CRM Servers are on the same domain. Do you mean that the AD server is on a different domain than the CRM server? They made a change in 2016.

    Check out the technet article:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh699671.aspx

When you use the Add Users Wizard, only users from trusted domains in the current forest will be displayed. Users from trusted external forests aren’t supported and don’t appear in the wizard.
