Highly likely MSDN Key from Ebay needs verification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all, after my purchase from Ebay i became aware of this issue. Had i known before i would of never of purchased!

Anyways i have done a quick check via the standalone tool and it apears this is an MSDN key. I would like verification to proceed with a refund from the seller and as such would like an offical response.

    Many thanks!

    Regards.

  • Yes this is an MSDN key, act fast, you only have 45 days to file a claim. Do not accept any replacement keys, refund only. If you have not done so alread read the blocked keys sticky.

    Thanks

The installation of Windows 7 on this computer is invalid -
    1) the Key is an MSDN one - which cannot be sold outside the MSDN account with which it came.
    2) The motherboard appears to be a retail purchase - and so not valid for an OEM_SLP installation, which means that there will probably be no COA Sticker on the machine's case, and licensing it will cost more than the machine did in the first place!
If there is a COA sticker - for which version and edition of Windows does it claim to be?

  • You can add $319.99 to the "really good price" of the computer for a  genuine Windows 7 Ultimate – Full Version.  What is currently installed is a pirated MSDN Subscription "not-for-resale" product key.

Once you purchase a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate - Full Version product key, please see: Update Your Product Key in Windows 7

  • I returned the entire computer for a full refund, and will let Mastercard fight them for me if problems occur.  I did get a call back from them they apologized and said they made a mistake and gave me the wrong computer, and that they could give me a similar system with Home premium on it for only $60 more. I told them to forget it because the circle of trust has been broken.

    Very sensible of you.
Good Luck in your hunt for a replacement.
