Installing CRM 2011 onto SBS 2011 Standard RRS feed

  • Question

  • The CRM 2011 Installation Guide indicates that it can be installed on an SBS 2011 Standard server (or Essential).  Many users on the internet say that there are issues for installing CRM 2011 directly on an SBS 2011 server, relating to the Windows Search service.

When SBS 2011 Standard is mentionned as compatible with CRM 2011, is it intended to be installed on the actual server, or on the secondary server licenced with the SBS 2011 Premium Add-on (w/SQL 2008 R2 Workgroup Edition) ?

    Thanks,

  • I've met this problem before. The main SBS 2011 server requires Window Search and CRM 2011 requires the Indexing Service and it seems that you can't have both on the same server.

Given that you must have a SQL server, then I would install CRM on the secondary server.
