Win 8.1 + Video Larger than 1920x1080 (4K) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ive tried many times now with GoPro footage that was captured as a timelapse at 4000px resolution as well as 4K video, and it will not open the file. If I downsize it to 1080p, it opens fine. Thought this was only an issue on Win 7 machines? What's up?

  • Oddly enough, if I use video recorded in 2.7k, it works. 4k - nope.

  • Hyperlapse Pro on Windows 8.1 should be able to open a 4k GoPro file.  What specific GoPro camera are you using?  Does Hyperlapse Pro show an error message?

  • Allow me to specify - this is a 4000px wide video file created by GoPro Studio of Timelapse footage. I've tried to export the video from GoPro Studio as H.264, AVI Cineform, and MOV Cineform. These videos all play back in Windows Media Player without issue. Only error that comes up in Hyperlapse Pro is "Cannot open video file.".

  • I couldn't open a 2.7K file from a GoPro on Windows 7.1.  I get the very informative error: "Cannot open video file."  I downconverted my video to 1080p with Premiere Pro, and this seems to have fixed it.
