Windows 7N used to say it was genuine but now it says its not RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I bought Windows 7 online, and when it showed up it was Windows 7N.  I went ahead and installed it, and the product key it came with successfully validated as genuine windows.  This worked fine for several months, but now I get the "Windows Is Not Genuine" message Build 7601.  It is saying that Windows has blocked my product key.  I ran the MGADiag.exe and here's my report.  Please help!

  • The Product Key in use has been blocked by Microsoft.

From where did you get this Key? It may well be an MSDN-type Key which has been blocked for abuse.

I would suggest that you call the MS Activation Center and discuss the situation with them - attempt to use Telephone Activation, and speak to an operator...

    telephone activation (operator calls)

    Click on the Start button

    in the Search box, type

    SLUI   4

    and hit the Enter key

follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

  • Windows 7N is a European version that does not include Windows Media Player.  It is not sold in the U.S.  What you have is a product key that belongs to someone's MSDN Subscription and cannot be sold to others.  You will need to purchase a genuine edition of Windows 7 and perform a "clean install".
