Windows Vista Activation Problem

Question
-
Hi, recently a message has been popping up telling me to "activate Windows now", however when i click on the messege and type in the product key it will say something like "please re-enter another product key this one seems to be in use"
or it will tell me it is the wrong product key and tells me where to look for it.
Well anyways i have 12 or so days left and i'm getting pretty worried, i have tried numerous things and eventually was lead here, and was told to enter this and see if it may help at all.

Hello SkateUndercover,
Users are allowed to install Vista without a Product Key (known as a Keyless Install). When a user does a Keyless Install, Vista automaticly uses it's own Default Product Key. Default Product Keys Can Not be Activated and only allow the user to use Vista for a 30 day Trial Period. Vista does this so people can try out Vista without having to buy it. If the user wishes to continue using Vista, they must enter a Valid Product Key.
The Product Key currently being used in your Vista is the Vista Default Product Key for Vista Ultimate. Below you can see the last 5 digits for all Vista Default Product Keys:
Default Product Keys (used for Keyless installs)
• Business - MRW4W
• BusinessN - QXX44
• HomeBasic - 3V4VD
• HomeBasicN - GFJBT
• HomePremium - 76PKF
• Ultimate - RP8F7To continue to use your Vista, you must enter a valid Vista Ultimate Product Key. To do this:
Click the "Start" button
Right-click "Computer" and select "Properties"
Click "Change Product Key" (located in the lower right hand corner of the window)
Enter the valid Vista Ultimate Product Key found in the Vista Ultimate Retail Box.
~If there is no product key listed in your Vista Ultimate Retail Box or if you did not get a Vista Ultimate Retail Box, please contact the person or company that sold you this software and demand the Genuine Microsoft Software, that you paided for. Or at the very least, a refund. Also, if you believe that the person or company, that sold you this software, meant to sell you Non-Genuine Microsoft software, then I encourage you to submit a Piracy Report against that person or company at http://microsoft.com/piracy
~If you have a Valid Product key for other version of Vista (such as Home Premium) then that key will not work in Ultimate. You would need to install the proper version of Vista to be able to use the corresponding Product Key.
If you still have problems, go to http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/resources/vol/numbers.mspx and find the Activation Call Center in your area and give them a call. Select the option to talk to a Live Activation rep or if there is no option, do not enter enything and that should force it to transfer you to a Live Rep. Once you are talking to a Live Activation Rep, read off the Product Key from your Retail Vista box and have the Rep confirm that the Product key is good. If it is, have the Rep walk you thru changing the current product key, in your Vista, for this good Key and then Activate Vista.
Thank you,
Darin Smith

Hello lt_phu,
It appears that your Vista needs to be Activated. Please use the Activate by Phone method as outlined below:
To Activate by Phone:
Click the Start button, and type slui.exe 4 in the search field and then press the "Enter" key. This will bring up the Activate by Phone dialog window. Follow the steps provided by the window. The phone activation process should only take about 6 minutes.
NOTE: The key to this process is that you need to talk to a Live Activation Rep! When you first call, you will be interacting with an Automated Voice, either select the option to talk to a Live Rep or if there is no option, do not enter any numbers. This should force the automated voice to transfer you to a Live Rep.
If this does not work, please create your own Forum Thread, report your Diagnostic Report and provide a detailed description of the issue.
Thank you,
Darin Smith
