  •  To find your Windows Live ID:
    1. Open OneCare.
    2. Click Help, and then click About Windows Live OneCare.

    Your Windows Live ID appears next to Subscription ID.

      To recover for your password(forgotten):

    1. Visit the Windows Live ID password reset (https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx?mkt=en-US)page
    2. Then follow the on-screen instructions.

  • I have tried activating my Live One Care on a new PC, but I followed your intructions of going to help and it would show my windows Live ID, but it says your subscription is no longer active.  I know this is good until Oct 2009.  Any suggestions?  My computer is showing that it is blocking unwanted programs.  When I open Live One, it states status as "At Risk" and that I need to finish setup.

  • When you installed OneCare, you may have entered a Windows Live ID, but you still have to activated it.

    You are trying to activate the OneCare in another pc?(2nd, 3rd PC..) You should use the same Live ID on the subsequent activations, the one you used when you activated your first computer. So make sure that you are using the same Windows Live ID when you activated your OneCare subscription.

    Two answers below for slightly different views of the problems in this thread. For you, lddalexander, the first answer may be valid if you activated OneCare on the PC you checked for your subscription LiveID before going to the 2nd PC. If you never activated, you need to complete that process to purchase or register a key for a subscription.

    If your subscription to OneCare shows incorrect or expired in OneCare

    • Check your PC date and time.
    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About…
    • Open OneCare and click "Check for Updates" to have OneCare check for updated credentials

    If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.

    If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

    Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com/ with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.

    If the activation dialog already contains a LiveID from a prior attempt or one used in trial mode, but this is not the one you need to activate with to associate it with your subscription, see this post for how to reset this - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/f5ce50e4-9165-40a5-891b-fe5d0659738b
